mara & james

January 6th, 2010 - posted in: weddings

mara and james’ wedding was on of those quick in and out jobs.

I didnt get a lot of time to work with them, but the time i did get to spend with them was awesome!

I spent a few hours with them in the evening at the new hazlett theater in the north side.

the hall was super dark, but there were so many great lights and textures to use.

check out the paper roses.  -tif

mara and the girls got ready in the main dressing room of the theater,

complete with the cliche’ dressing room mirror.

she has such a classy look, she even looks good in curlers.  -tif

I really am digging this shot here! – jonathan

aww…  :) – joanthan

the guests had cocktails a in the lobby (and checked out the family tree)

while i took mara and james’ photos together.

it’s so much less stressful to do all the posed shots before the ceremony begins.  -tif

we did all of the pics inside for this shoot, being that it was 15 degrees outside.

the theater has nothing but dramatic lighting.  -tif

i have this recent obsession with lomography, so these make me feel happy inside :) tif

Very very nice! i like it! – jonathan

we found a snazzy little stairway in the back of the theater with a little more light. -tif

…and at the bottom of the stairs,

a hall way!  -tif

I love the fact that this place has high theater seating here.

I wish i could have seen this place first hand. it seems like it is an incredible venue

for weddings or even concerts. – jonathan

yeh, I am defiantly recommending it to anybody looking for a sweet venue.  -tif

two of james’ groomsmen preformed a song for them durring the ceremony,

it was a tear jerker – tif

I promise that this arrow was not drawn on in photoshop.

I even had to look at tiffs raw photo to understand why it looks like she took a

big fat erasing marker onto that curtain and erased it. I still dont understand why it looks so unreal.

its that arrow they put on the edge of the curtain so you can find it in the dark.

its an incredible picture tiff!

you’ve got great eye for seeing that! – jonathan

beautiful moment here :) – jonathan

I got to take this one from the stands in the auditorium…polka-dot lights.

this was a party, from the first song on…. the entire guest list hopped onto the floor right off the bat.

thank you for letting me join in your evening.  -tif

check the DJ in the catwalks! looks like he’s rocking the macbook pro! – jonathan

great work tiff!

i love ya- jonathan

Very nicely formatted by the photographer with a refreshingly nontraditional approach. Is that the groom’s father I see in the last shot, hoping to get a dance with the bride? If he succeeded, it goes to show that sons are indeed worth the effort of raising! Congratulations, Michael, Ellen, Mara (whom I hope to meet someday), and especially, James!
